5 St. Patrick’s Day-Inspired Cocktails You Can Make at Home
At The Irish Nobleman, we love St. Patrick’s Day! After all, we’re an Irish Pub. It’s kind of our thing. Everywhere you go on St. Patrick’s Day, you’ll find everything turned green, even the Chicago River. If you want to drink more green, you can make these cool St. Patrick’s Day-inspired cocktails in your own kitchen to kick off the festivities to give you more variety than green beer.
- Shamrock Juice
The fun of this recipe is that it gives you that green color you want but surprises you with an orange flavor. You’ll need a 1/2-ounce of gin, 1/2-ounce white tequila, 1/2-ounce vodka, 1/2-ounce light rum, 1 ounce blue curacao, and 4 ounces of orange juice (ideally that fresh-squeezed stuff). You’ll fill up a hurricane glass with ice cubes and then pour the 4 liquors in. Add the orange juice to fill the rest of the way. Don’t forget a garnish! Use a slice of orange, and cherries too if you wish.
- Irish Flag Shot
Show your patriotism for Ireland with a shot that has the colors of the Irish flag. It’s all layered up and almost too pretty to drink. Hey, we said “almost.” You’ll need a 1/3 shot green creme de menthe, 1/3 shot Licor 43, and a 1/3 shot Irish cream. Layer them into your shot glass in that order. Do so carefully or you’ll cause it to mix together. You get a shot that tastes sweet like candy!
- The Grasshopper
The Grasshopper is probably what comes to mind when you think of green drinks for St. Patrick’s Day. But it’s a classic cocktail with a minty, chocolaty taste that happens to be green. You’ll need 3/4 ounce of green creme de menthe, 3/4 ounce of white creme de cacao, and 3/4 ounce of light cream. Then, add ice to your cocktail shaker, add the ingredients and shake it up to chill it. Strain it into a cocktail glass. Add a sprig of mint for a pretty garnish.
- Irish Coffee
Like coffee? Like Whiskey? Then you’re about to have it all in one cup. This one’s perfect for a chilly night. You’ll need 1 1/2 ounces of Irish whiskey, 6 ounces of hot, strong coffee, and whipped cream. You can also add 3/4 ounce of Irish cream if you wish, and we strongly recommend it for a creamier taste. You’ll pour the whiskey into a coffee mug, preferably an Irish one if you have it. Then, put a spoon into the mug and pour the hot coffee in. Add your Irish cream if you’re using it and then top it with whipped cream. Some ground up coffee sprinkled on top or brown sugar sprinkles jazz up the appearance.
- Irish Car Bomb
And finally, the ultimate Irish drink. It’s a party in a glass with 3/4 pint of Guinness stout, a 1/2 shot of Bailey’s Irish Cream, and a 1/2 shot of Jameson Irish Whiskey. Add your Bailey’s into a shot glass. Then add in the Jameson. Pour the Guinness into a proper beer mug and let the foam settle down. Drop the shot glass right into the Guinness and drink it down fast.
Don’t feel like making your own cocktails? Who could blame you? Come on in and we can make these, and many more of them, for you!
